Previous postdoctoral research, Dr. Kevin Cazelles and collaborators uses a variety of biotracers to create a spatial fingerprint of seafood (sockeye salmon) fro distinct regions in order to identify provenance of seafood catches. The article is towards the ability to identify both species (e.g., DNA barcoding) and provenance towards enhancing the sustainability of global seafood. In deed, thi stechnoque could be employed for estimating the geographical source of food sold globally. You can find the paper here.
